Under Cabinet TV

This website is designed to have the information you need to find the best possible under counter TV, or under cabinet TV for your individual needs.

When purchasing an under cabinet TV, you want to play close attention to certain factors.  Price is an obvious factor, but the range of prices across major brands is not that drastic.  The price for the televisions correlates to the features you would expect, like screen size and other options, like whether or not the set has a DVD player.

One of the best things you can do when considering buying is to read consumer reviews.  All of the pictures of the units make the product look great.  But sometimes what is in the box isn't that great.  For example, one customer bought their under cabinet TV expecting a silver unit (based on the picture on the box) but it actually contained a cheap plastic unit with a silver decal on the front.

Some of the other problems to look for when reading reviews on specific under cabinet TV models are:

  • problems with the sound (too soft, too loud)
  • screen fade after a few months
  • tuner not receiving signal well
  • cheap construction allowing breakage
  • poor quality remote control

Having said that, there are plenty of good models out there to choose from.  Audiovox, Coby, and Sony tend to be the leading brands, with the most favorable customer reviews.

Remember to consider your specific application: kitchen, boat, RV, etc.  What sort of lighting conditions will you have?  How far away will you be when you are viewing it?  What sort of input will you have?  Do you need a DVD player built in to your under cabinet TV?

In general, the best quality models have the built-in DVD players, and strong tuners, with inputs to receive signal from cable or satellite.  (Just remember that if you are relying on anything other than the tuner for your signal, you will need to run wire from a set-top box to your under cabinet TV.)
