Two things you should know about an under-counter TV's LCD screen:
1) they can go bad
2) they are super expensive to replace.
You might buy a unit for $150, and have something go wrong with the "panel" (or screen) in a year, and it would cost you over $200 to have it repaired. Crazy, huh?
Panels are expensive. The parts alone to replace the panel can cost more than the original under-counter TV cost in the first place.
For this reason, it is wise to buy a warranty whenever you get any type of device with an LCD screen. Typically the warranties are only a tiny fraction of the original purchase price. They are well worth it.
As a Christmas present for my wife, I bought an LCD screen picture frame. Upon opening it, there was one pixel in the middle of the screen that was damaged..it always showed white. It was distracting, like a spec on every photo. And that was just upon opening it!
Not that LCD screens are super-fragile. They are generally more robust than other small screens. But, things can go wrong with them, just like with any device. And the problem with LCD is the cost of the parts vs. the cost of the original under-counter TV.
